New Arduino Ballistic Chronograph Project: ESP-01 WiFi, Arduino Nano and Smartphone

Last video we tested the ESP-01 sending it AT commands from the desktop PC using a terminal emulator and an Arduino Nano as a USB to UART interface This time we will write and upload a simple sketch so the Arduino Nano will send and receive data to/from a smartphone, using the ESP-01 to do its WiFi things

The Arduino will still be connected to a PC USB, but just to monitor and debug The ESP-01 will be connected to Arduino's pins 10 and 11 configured as TX/RX using SoftwareSerial library Now the serial connection must be the usual one: TX >>>> RX, RX <<<< TX 33V regulator Arduino Nano Pins 10 and 11 from Nano to the level shifter (5V>33V) SoftwareSerial esp8266(10, 11); // RX, TX

and from the level shifter to the ESP-01 TX and RX pins ESP-01 LM317 regulator adjusted to 33V It is being fed from an external 12Vdc 1A power supply The two buttons are not necessary for this test (ESP-01 reset and flash) The smartphone will send 3 commands via WiFi, 1 = turn on Nano's LED (pin 13), 0 = turn off Nano's LED, 2 = asks Arduino Nano to send an ASCII table Connecting to ESP-01 WiFi
