(MYA) SARAH– THIS IS THE FIRST TRANS AND NON BINARY RESOLUTION TO BE PASSED BY LOUISIANA TECH'S STUDENT GOVERNMENT HOWEVER–THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF CONFUSION ON WHAT ACTUALLY IS BEING PASSED

((MYA HUDGINS REPORTING)) shawn igou, PART OF LATECH'S LGBTQ ORGANIZATION i think it's important especially to treat all students on campus with the same level of digniti and decency LOUISIANA TECH STUDENTS ARE HOPING TO BRING CHANGE TO CAMPUS AS THEY START A CONVERSATION ABOUT GENDER IDENITITY LUKE SEATON, MEMBER OF SGA AND WROTE RESOLUTION this resolution is not asking for anything to be changed or added it is specically asking for an interpretation A RESOLUTION WAS WRITTEN ABOUT GENDER IDENTITY PROTECTION UNDER THE TITLE 9 POLICY TITLE 9 TALKS ABOUT NO DISCRIMINATION AGAINST RACE-GENDER-SEX

ORGINALLY– THE WORD "SEX" INCLUDED TRANS AND NON-BINARY PEOPLE LUKE SEATON, MEMBER OF SGA AND WROTE RESOLUTION in 2017 those guidelines were repealed so that is no longer inforced so there is no longer a discrimenation protection for gender idenity and transgender people inforced on campus so it is up to campuses to choose these guidlines as they see fit

TECH UNIVERSITY'S STUDENT GOVERNMENT PASSED THIS RESOLUTION WITH 20 YES'– 6 NO'S–AND 6 ABSTENTIONS shawn igou,PART OF LATECH'S LGBTQ ORGANIZATION the back lash that was seen was primarly coming from a point of i just dont get it and i like that a lot better than purposeful hatetred SGA OFFICIALS SAY MANY ON CAMPUS AND IN THE COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN CONFUSED OF WHAT IS BEING ASKED katelyn cavell, student president prism (LGBTQ ORGANIZATION) number 1 priority with this resolution was really just to assure the safety of trans and non-bianary students on this campus NOTHING TO DO WITH BATHROOMS–DORMS–OR SPORTS MEMBERS OF THE CAMPUS LGBTQ ORGANIZATION SAY THEY ARE EXCITED THAT OTHER STUDENTS SHOWED UP TO THE SGA MEETING AND ARE BEING SUPPORTIVE theo robison, PART OF LATECH'S LGBTQ ORGANIZATION people who aren't maybe aware of the issue kind of learn more about it shawn igou, PART OF LATECH'S LGBTQ ORGANIZATION it's very heart warming to see especally if they don't come from the same life experience to see that they still support what we are going through (MYA) SGA ASKED FOR A LETTER FROM LOUISIANA TECH'S ADMINISTRATION GIVING AN INTERPRETATION OF THE WORD SEX IN THE TITLE 9 POLICY
